What do you all think of the swine flu vaccine? Are you going to get it? I think I've already had my bout of it, so I'm hoping that I'm immune.

And have you heard the latest about the Gardasil vaccine? I'm sooo glad I decided NOT to get my daughter vaccinated!

I won't be getting the swine flu vaccine. I mean, if it's supposed to be milder than the regular flu anyway, what's the point? I think the government sometimes is a little too quick to jump on the bandwagon and declare something as a crisis, or in this case, a PANDEMIC.... just to take our minds off of other things. A couple of years ago, it was SARS.

Re: RedHeadRN (Post 238)
I keep going back and forth on the vaccine issue. The regular flu vaccine only protects against 1 strain (the strain the CDC feels is the most dangerous this year), so chances are you'll wind up sick anyway. The H1N1 is effective if the virus maintains unchanged, but by the time the vaccine is available many of us will have been exposed and developed an immunity. Moreover, I am not too young to remember all the issues w/ the vaccine back in the mid 70's. Sometimes I think we do our bodies more harm than good w/ these vaccines.

Just my two cents

I thought the one strain vaccine protected against both Influenza A & B .... whatever they've guessed those strains have morphed into this year?
